West Pier

Tonight's evening stroll with my Fuji X100V.

The West Pier, Brighton, was designed by Eugenius Birch and opened in 1866. In its heyday it had a 1400 capacity eight-sided grand concert hall at the end and attracted 2 million visitors a year (1918-19). It was the first pier to be Grade I listed in England & Wales but has become increasingly derelict since its closure to the public in 1975 and after major storms in 2002 and arson in 2003, only a partial metal framework now remains.
