Looked for birds- found a mink

Wound up at Sapsucker Woods ( had wanted to go to Montezuma because I correctly thought the birding there would be better this early in the year because the ducks are migrating and the warblers aren't yet)  largely due to timing issues. Glenn got COVID #2 today ( YAY) but it was at noon, making any foray into the Finger Lakes a  late start . That was compounded by stopping for lunch at the Ithaca Bakery . Lunch to go took an hour .It was busy but it looked like the order got lost under a bunch of others .So we chose to stay in Ithaca and headed off to the lab. I was correct. The talley was about 15 geese (they seem to have taken over the pond),lots of robins ,5 downey and
2 hairy woodpeckers, some very loud red belly WP's and a really loud pileated heard but not seen.Oh , and a phoebe. We stopped at the last pond near the lab  hoping for a northern waterthrush (yes I know too early) and found instead a mink. I thought it was a weasel , Glenn thought it was a river otter , but on inspection of the photos- a mink. Cool. never seen one before.
Extras are a trio of redwing blackbirds and a snake .
