The spice shop

Spice shops are to be found in most streets in Luxor.

Baskets of Fuul (Peanuts) hibiscus, dates and some odd looking things, that resemble very little to the average shopper, have medicinal and healing qualities.

Inside, burning incense excites the nostrils, musk, amber or jasmine I wonder?
Turmeric, cardamon, pepper, mint, chilli, saffron, line the shelves in glass jars, alongside are a variety of dried leaves, powders and tea, the colours are vibrant and intriguing.

Hibiscus is the dried, deep crimson flower, that when infused with hot water, makes a delicious tea that raises the blood pressure.
Karkade is made by bringing to the boil, water, hibiscus and sugar. Strain away the flowers and chill. Ideal for a hot summers day and great for reducing the blood pressure.
