Waipoo Falls

We woke up to a very cold and wet morning -brrr. The campsite chook was clucking around happily awaiting breakfast. We headed into the Koke'e State Park restaurant for coffee and managed to bag seats next to a roaring log fire - not something that you would think was needed on a Hawaiian island, but we were very glad of the warmth.

We headed down the winding road to the coast, stopping to take in a view of Waipoo Falls in the Waimea Canyon. The two-tier falls drop 800 feet down into the valley.

Then back to Lihue and to the Kauai Palms Hotel to dry out the tent, say 'hello' to the Princess (the hotel cat) and ready ourselves to leave this magnificent island in the morning.
