Unfinished Business

My trip to Dolgellau this morning met with mixed results.   Lots of junk dropped at the recycling centre which was good.   The visit to the dentist was decidedly mixed.  My broken tooth may be hard to save although probably worth a root canal treatment.   But.    But they're only doing emergency appointments at the moment so that's not an option, at least on the NHS.   "Maybe if you try going private somewhere else?"   Or maybe not!    Even if these treatments do restart in the summer, the waiting list is going to be long.   So for now I have a temporary filling which might last two or three months, might.    I guess  it will end in an extraction but apparently top back molars can be difficult.  Great!   On the plus side the dentist was kind and gentle and the clean up he did on the remains of the tooth was painless.   He also removed the last bit of root from the baby tooth extracted last year which was causing me discomfort.   So in the end I came home with mixed feelings and a sore mouth!

It's a year to the day since we first met Meg.   This afternoon we met up with Holly who rescued her before passing her on to us.   Meg had a great time running on the beach with two of Holly's dogs.   The seafront was much busier than it has been, reflecting the lifting of the cross border travel restrictions.   It looks like being the busiest summer here for decades even if the ban on foreign travel is lifted.

Saxifraga longifolia makes a fine display with it's ring of lime encrusted leaves.   It's mononcarpic, dying after it flowers.   Plants take several years to reach flowering size, this one is not there yet.    I saw them in flower in the Pyrenees on my first alpine flower trip in 1996 but despite raising it from seed several times I have never yet got one to flower.   Unfinished business.
