Day 104/21. Holy Moley !!

A walk around Ocean Village in Southampton today.
We passed the impressive 'Brave Challenger' super yacht quietly moored in the marina. See extra picture.....
Brave Challenger was built in 1958 by Vosper Thorneycroft in Southampton, as a private yacht for Stavros Niarchos who required (and received) what is believed to have been the fastest yacht in the world at that time.
Based on the Vosper Brave Class patrol boats, but not a conversion, the vessel represents the height of marine technology of the 1950s and 1960s.  She incorporates original design features including hull construction, propulsion systems and propeller design.
We wondered what the 3 ports at the stern were, hence the picture. On looking it up online I discovered she is powered by 3 (yes, 3) Bristol Proteus gas turbine engines. At full speed she can make 60+ knots , thats over 70mph !!!
Impressive.
