Bronze beetle

Wiki couldn't help me identify this beautiful bronze beetle. I came across three of them in a small area of the garden and hoped I could photo them on a lovely bed of moss. Not possible. They scurried in to the moss and I had to settle for the bottom of a plastic container. In the absence of information that they are the gardener's worst enemy, I released them. No bronze beetles were harmed in the taking of this blip. Will I regret it?
