South African sundew

The sundew doesn't catch as many of the 'shimmy' flies as the pitcher plant, but it isn't as demanding, and it got frosted in the greenhouse last week. There's. a North American pitcher plant at home - it 'does' frost quite happily.

I don't actually know what the flies are. They live in the peat free compost. During the summer when there are more of them they walk for a few steps then do a sort of shimmy with their wings, carry on walking and repeat.
