A Topping Day

Long walk over to Great Ayton via Roseberry Topping today. Blue skies all the way and apple and lemon cake with strong black coffee on arrival in Great Ayton. Marvellous.

The photo is taken looking towards Roseberry Topping from close to the late 18th century shooting box (or banqueting house) built for the local gentry to picnic in or shoot from. No such goings on today, just people exploring the 'Matterhorn of the Moors'. I am looking forward to the bluebells blooming in the woods below soon. There were only a few in flower today but I did see swathes of wood anemones.
