Along the former town wall

In the middle ages Bruges was surrounded by a  protecting  huge stone wall (as in York GB) and also inside the town walls there where  plenty of active  windmills   Now all this ,(beside the four still existing windmills) is  history ,and now is the whole round tour (about 10 km.) popular by walkers and cyclist . Just a few town gates are a souvenir of that time .
