Pomelo

I wandered down to our little orchard today and discovered the pomelos are ready. I’ve photographed it with a large navel orange and a lime to give some indication of size. It is a citrus, is pale pink inside and tastes like a mild grapefruit.

We first tasted them in Vietnam when we were living there, but of course we bought them peeled and segmented. It’s not an easy fruit to deal with so have admiration for the Vietnamese who prepared them for us.

It was with a very sharp knife and a few expletives when I made Vietnamese Chicken and Pomelo Salad for dinner.
