Feijoas

Its Autumn so its feijoa season. The feijoa tree is a native of Brazil, part of the myrtle family. Also known as pineapple guava or guavasteen. Its widely grown in New Zealand gardens for the fruit which is sweet and tastes of pineapple (?), mint and apple. I'm quoting from Wikipedia.  I think the flavour is hard to describe but I'm not sure I can taste pineapple or mint. Its an acquired taste but most New Zealanders have been brought up with this fruit so it is very popular.
