Birstwith Hall

I have passed this grand residence before and wondered who lived there, and if it was of any historic significance.
It appears to be the home of the Aykroyd family who made their fortunes in the 19 century from the textile business. The gardens are opened occasionally to the public under the NGS (National Gardens Scheme), so that's one for another day.
After sandwiches and coffee in Hampsthwaite, we are now back at our more modest residence in time for a bath and baked salmon for tea.
