A sad tale

Our walk this afternoon took us through Dean Cemetery where I spotted this headstone today of George Paul Chalmers RSA 1833-1878. I looked him up when I got back and discovered he was a celebrated artist from Montrose, nicknamed “The Angus Rembrandt”. Tragically his life was cut short when he was violently mugged just off Charlotte Square in Edinburgh in 1878 and died as a result of his injuries.
