Tiptoe Through the Tulips

We had been worried that the tulips might have been tempted out just before last weeks frosts - and suffered accordingly. It seems nature is a bit cleverer than I gave it credit for, and the tulips have wisely waited for the warm dry weather this week before starting to bloom. It is especially pleasing to see this particular bunch as the flowerbed where they are was just a mass of weeds this time last year. Nice to know all those lockdown days spent in the garden weren’t in vain.
A good session in the gym before lunch - managed to up the weight on a couple of exercises, so signs of progress after only a week back. Popped into Asda on the way home and bought my first ever “Now That’s What I Call.....” CD. Don’t normally go for that sort of thing but this one bears the sub title “12 inch 1980s”. Some absolutely superb classics from the 80s but different versions to the original singles. 4CDs for a tenner made it - in the words of a friend who recommended it to me - “an absolute no-brainer”. That’s my in car entertainment sorted for the next week or so.
The afternoon was spent packing up my bass amp, ready to part exchange it for a new one tomorrow. Retrieving the original box from the loft had the positive side effect of finding a few other empty boxes which used to contain things I no longer own. Don’t know why I’d hung onto them, but they’re in the recycling now and the loft is a little bit tidier.
All in all, another positive day. Don’t know if it’s the improved weather, the easing of restrictions, generally better news about covid or a combination of all of those. Whatever, it’s just good to actually feel hopeful for a change.
