Wanderings & Witterings

Castle

An afternoon walk from Auchinstarry along the River Kelvin Walkway at Kilsyth, up to and through Dumbreck Marsh Local Nature Reserve and back to the car. A walk made more 'interesting' by landscaping and path improvement works, which meant that some paths were closed, i.e. fenced off, a fact one would not realise until one had reached the barrier in question. A few minor changes of plan and at least one episode of retracing my steps was required.

Meanwhile, from the Walkway I got a clear view of other walkers at the trig point on top of Castle Hill, an Iron Age fort which also lies close to the  line of the Antonine Wall. (One doesn't reach it from the direction I am facing, there are easier paths to the summit!)

Needed to up my step-count after yesterday's laziness and gluttony, so went a little way towards that. Now, where's the rest of that dumpling?
