Discarded?

Spotted this by the back door of a cottage. Have they been discarded or are the reindeer there just there to keep the bear company?

Having phone line problems, hence this back blip. Land line and broadband both out. Having to use my iPhone as a WiFi hotspot to get an internet connection. This means my connectivity will be sporadic today and I am travelling tomorrow so comments and replies are not likely to happen.
