Our pool and gym have been closed. This is not due to any official decree, although the number of Covid cases in Chiang Mai are on the rise, pools and gyms have not been closed. This decision has been taken by the management. Originally the board was asked to vote on limiting the number of people allowed in the pool and gym. The result was that four people at a time could swim and two people could use the gym. A system of registration was put in place. This lasted for a week only before this total ban came in. As you can imagine the residents are not happy, especially as new people have been allowed to stay here. I miss my daily swim. A swimming pool and gym at a nearby hotel are open, but I really don't like the idea of coming into contact with strangers.

Restaurants can open although social distancing must be observed and no alcohol can be served. We can still buy alcohol to drink at home. This morning when I took my garbage to the bins (we have two, one for garbage and one for recycling) they were overflowing with empty alcohol bottles and cans. Also plenty of takeaway food containers and pizza boxes. Many people are simply to scared to go out. Sadly this situation has occurred following Songkran when people travelled back to their families. Those from areas that had the virus were supposed to stay home or quarantine for 14 days. We now have three field hospitals with the capacity to take 2000 patients each. A plan to allow asymptomatic and non critical patients, under 40, to recover at home is being discussed. For those patients who live in condominiums the building managers have to agree.

On a happier note my extra is of a kitten. I think maybe someone splashed him with water!! I also got to cuddle the ginger kitten for a few moments, he's is still impossible to photograph as he moves so fast. If he was mine I would call him Hurricane.
