Taking care of themselves

These cows graze in the fields where I'm walking at broken scar in Darlington. Each day at around 5 they make their own way back along the Riverside track to where the farmer meets them and takes them in for the night. They are not led nor called, they just know what to do and when. It's a busy route for walkers but they and the cows take no notice of each other and get along just fine.
