If you can't beat them...

Robin ( Erithacus rubecula )

We had to go down into the south of the county, or was it the very north of Lancashire, I'm not sure.   Anyway we decided to make a day of it as the weather was good.  So fairly early, by our standards anyway, we headed for the M6.  I was amazed at how few cars were on the motorway discounting us there were 17 in 40 miles, two towing caravan.

Our first planned stop was the RSPB Leighton Moss reserve.  We began with the serious business of coffee and cake.  As the hides weren't open, we should have guessed, no socialising indoors, we opted for a walk to the far end of the reserve.  The views of the water birds were a bit restricted as apart from at the causeway where there was a screen with viewing slots we were peering through gaps in reeds.

We had planned to go elsewhere but by the time we were back to the reserve buildings there was only time for another coffee and a time to relax before we had to head off.  During that coffee break a Robin kept very close watch hoping for crumbs.  Clickychick managed to get two Robins in one shot, a first.
