Blackcap male

Also known as the "Northern Nightingale" because of its delightful fluting song.  The female has a chestnut brown cap and they are a striking pair. Although known to be summer visitors to the UK from Southern Europe or North Africa,  more and more of them are wintering in the UK.  It is estimated that around 3000 of them do not migrate.  I've yet to see and hear one in our winter.  Gorgeous bird with a fantastic song.
