Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,

The first live-in carer, Melanie, arrived yesterday so I came home today. It felt really hard to leave: I chatted to Penny about me going this morning and she very quietly said “but I like you being here” which definitely made my heart achy.

It has only been 3 weeks but as so much has changed with Penny’s condition, it seems longer. This feeling was compounded as I drove in from the bypass - there were so many more people out on the pavements (presumably since the lockdown relaxation) and the road markings have all changed to create new cycle lanes and parking.

Thankfully being at home feels familiar. It is good to be back.
