Nesting swans

While walking aroud Airthrey loch this evening I met an old friend cycling who informed me he had just counted five nesting swans. I was amazed. Then I checked. Sure enough there are five pairs of nesting swans. A few years ago there was only one pair.

Reckon there is going to be a lot of fighting for territory in a years time because the loch can only support a limited number.

We had a zoom meeting for  Open Gardens with lots of advise and what to do this year because of Covid restrictions, handling money ( dont!), one way systems , and how to keep people moving . We can't set tup tables in our gardens unless we are prepared to wipe them down and disinfect them after each visitor. Usually the local church takes care of all the teas for us and in return they get to keep the money. But the church has hit hard times. It's selling its manse and church hall.
So that's a problem. Fortunately we have a new person on the committee who is a great organiser  and I am sure will come up with a solution.
