Walking Wombat

We made it to Esperance

We’ve travelled over 3,500 kilometres in the last 7 days and have traversed some of the driest areas of Australia, but mid afternoon we arrived at Esperance Bay which is still part of the Great Australian Bight.  We were on the road by 6.30am and made great progress as there was little traffic on the road.  I always know I’m home in WA when I turn left at Norseman and head south to the coast!

We were met with the news that Perth and surrounding areas had been sent into a three day lockdown due to the fact that they had some new community transmission Covid cases.  We will be unaffected at this stage because we’re well out of the affected area.  Our blip buddies in Perth however will have to cope with another three days of lockdown.  Let’s hope that is when it will end.

Before we arrived at Norseman we had the joy of driving 146km on Australia’s longest straightest road.  I’ve posted an extra (taken by Mauzee) of one very happy camper about to embark on the 90 mile stretch.  The humorous part of the drive is that at the end of the stretch, guess what, THERE IS A BEND!!

Tomorrow we will spend the day and night in Cape Le Grand National Park, one of the countries most pristine and scenic regions.  I have visited on two occasions but never had the opportunity to enjoy a sunset and a sunrise from that glorious location.  I just can’t wait.  We may not be able to post a blip tomorrow as I will be very suprised if we have any internet reception.  We will just have to wait and see.
