Throbbing

The Scaraveen (brownie points to those who remember what that was) has resulted in a snowstorm as all the cherry blossom has cascaded downwards. Another fine if blowy day and the clematis is fully out and throbbing with bees!  The apple blossom is prolific and the lilac nearly open.
Talking of wells -we were weren't we - as a result of last week's interview I had the contact numbers of a few people who had rung in with interesting stuff. One was Cathy who wanted to know if I'd been to  Tobar na mBan, Well of the Women. I didn't think I had and she had some fine stories to tell. The water held a cure for childbirth! Well not quite, once you were in your throes a friend was dispatched to the well and returned with some water - 3 sips required to ease things! However - if a man should drink from the well he would never marry! Cathy told me of one chap who had been playing football, came to the well for water and forgot the folklore. Ooops, never married. Another had intentionally supped from the well to save himself the hassle of a wife! Never married. And now the council has put some slabs across the well to stop the men falling in! We had a great chat and a giggle! After a bit of research, I think I had tried to find the well but had failed. Trickily it also goes by another name - St Ciaran -  which is where the confusion arose. You have to be on the ball for well work.
