Circinate Vernation

Circinate Vernation is a phrase I first learned from our senior biology teacher when I was in the sixth form back in the mid-1970s.

I think it is fair to say that neither he nor I realised back then how those rather dry lessons to get us through our Biology A-levels would in fact contribute to my deep life-long love of plants and the natural environment.

These particular ferns are ones I planted several years ago in our back garden, with a more recent compost bin making up the background.
