Birmingham Canals

We were up out very early and drove to the outskirts of Birmingham for an away day cycle ride. 5 of us in total.

We set of in the hilly Warwickshire countryside, enjoying the views and being in different roads. We managed to get from one side to the other of the M6 toll roundabout, scary but funny. Then down on to the canals. These were mostly quiet and so picturesque.

We cycled through the centre of Birmingham and enjoyed discovering famous sites and interesting parts of  this very friendly city. There was a lovely atmosphere. The route took us through lots of beautiful green areas and even around the sailing club lake.

Back on the canal tow paths. Ady had a mishap and nearly fell in the canal. He just caught his bike with his foot, phew. A few miles on and Mr PB’s saddle broke. Luckily it was still rideable.

Off the tow paths and back in the undulating countryside for the last part and headed up all the hills back to where the cars were parked. Final mishap was Adys glasses fell out a bag then D reversed over them. Other than that it was a fab day. 68 miles on my new bike
