Cautious exchange

The annual seed swap took place today, welcoming back the  Saturday producers' market and heralding the opening of shops, pubs and eating places on Monday. A welcome return to normality although the heat and unbroken sunshine are pretty abnormal for April.

The leafy greens in the bucket are, I was delighted to see, "Squeezy John's perennial kale". The  stalks  can be stuck in the ground to take root and  produce an unending supply.
Aka Daubenton's kale - you can read about it here.  There's another perpetual  variety called Taunton Deane  of which a friend gave me two shoots recently but they're struggling to strike in the drought.

I love a good kale yard!
