Holtnesdalen nature reserve

Ingunn (IngunnInOslo) and I planned a trip to see the wood anemones, (anemone nemorosa) but it was too cold and too cloudy, for them to open up, but the valley was much more interesting than I know and it was nice to see it before it turnes green. We decided to take a new trip in May. And of course we had a lot to talk about, as usual :))

Holtnesdalen nature reserve is located in Hurum municipality and was established on March 1th, 1974, and the area was expanded in 1993 and 2007 by law. The nature reserve covers an area of 26 hectares. The purpose of the protection is to conserve a temperate deciduous forest dominated by Ash.The area has many dead and dying trees which makes a high entomologic conservation value. The area makes perfect habitats for a rich flora with many rare and vulnerable plants due to the special topography with deep ravines and steep ridges.
