Peel Park

This morning I drove to Peel Park in Kirkintilloch to meet up with my son and his two wee boys.  Peel Park is on the site of a Roman Fort on the Antonine Wall. Later there was a medieval castle which was destroyed by Robert the Bruce after his victory at Bannockburn in 1314. It now has an excellent playpark and we had lots of fun. The top of the hill now boasts this rather fine C listed bandstand. It was made locally in the Lion Foundry and was gifted to the town in 1905. Of course I had to look all this up! I wonder when a band last played in it?
