Dog Gone

Sad news. Our much loved dog Jassy was very unwell last night. We took her to the 24 hour vet and the news wasn't good. A massive tumour in her abdomen. Surgery wasn't an option and we made the decision to put her to sleep. Both Jo and I are grief stricken.

Jassy originally belonged to Jo's Dad until he became too frail and had to go into care. Long story. It's all documented here on Blipfoto.

Jassy was a true hero dog. When Jo's Dad had an Alzheimer episode and went missing she stayed by his side and whatever it was she did for him on those days when he was missing in the state forest, it got him through the ordeal. Hero dog.

I am not sure how dogs brains work but there is no way Jassy couldn't have been feeling discomfort from the tumour in her belly. I believe she hid her discomfort to keep on being a loyal dog to us. We are attentive pet owners and looking back over the past few there were a very few tell tale signs. Not enough to set off alarm bells.

Jassy has been with us for 4 or so years. Before that she was Jo's Dads dog. Last night her life ended at 8 years of age. She would have been 9 in June. Way too young for a dog to die. All we had left this morning were muddy paw prints on the backdoor mat.

I will miss her so much. My faithful friend and companion. Miss you. RIP
