Lunar light

At about four o’clock this morning I awoke to find a bright light shining in my eyes.

It turned out to be a reflection of the moon, shining through a gap in the curtains.

As the moon went on its way and the light through the gap faded, It struck me how unlikely it all was: light coming all the way from the sun, bounced off the moon, shining through a small aperture, at just the right angle to be reflected into my eyes.

Then, of course, I couldn’t get back to sleep for ages.
