Heading out

HM Bark Endeavour replica visited Whitby in 1997 and 2000. I was thrilled to be on board several times. This was called "The Homecoming" because James Cook's ship was a Whitby collier originally Earl of Pembroke. In 1997 thousands of locals lined the harbour, riverside, and the hills lining the Esk valley to welcome the Australian built ship.
