Let’s face it!

This little collection of masks hangs in my bookbinding studio. Several years ago a successful Australian ceramicist, Lincoln Kirby-Bell was travelling in Guatemala and came across an orphanage. He paused his travels, built a kiln from the surrounding dirt, and guided the kids in making and painting masks. He then shipped them back to Australia, held a selling exhibition and sent all the proceeds back to the orphanage, which he continued to support.

We used to sell Lincoln’s work through our gallery in Alice Springs until he left Australia and now lives and works in Penzance in the UK.
