Margel Hinder sculpture II

Driving to Queensland over the next two days and stopped in Newcastle just north of Sydney for a quick visit to the art gallery for exhibition of Bill Henson (mostly landscape) photographs. And a treat - out the front of the library building (officially named the War Memorial Cultural Centre) next to the art gallery was a Margel Hinder public water sculpture from 1960s I had seen referenced in the exhibition yesterday. I had not properly noted that it was still in place as another water sculpture piece had been removed and I somehow thought this had too. Serendipitous and delightful.
The library building from 1957 is rather good modern structure and is included in the NSW heritage register. This makes me happy!
