The egotist's delight

It was almost too much for Ottawacker Jr. to bear.

Having swept into an almost unassailable lead in the final rounds of the evening Scrabble wars, he was stopped in his tracks by the dreaded accumulation of too many vowels. In other words, he was bollixed.

He'd done so well, too. He'd managed to sit on his mother's left-hand side, so had benefitted from her unbelievable habit of "playing something good for the board". Try as I might telling her that the purpose of the game is to screw the board and take as many points as possible from the game, she will insist on leaving spaces next to triple and double words... What can you do? Ottawacker Jr. has to learn that it is a dog-eat-dog world out there somehow, and what better place than at the Scrabble table?
