These glasshouses in the Botanics were built in the sixties - all the structural support comes from an intricate external structure of high-tensile steel tubes and cables from which the glazing is suspended. Thus there is no internal framework to  impede the growth of the plants inside.

Unfortunately all the glasshouses are closed at the moment as part of the Garden’s major restoration and construction project, Edinburgh Biomes. Edinburgh Biomes | Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (rbge.org.uk)
