An Ashey Mining Bee

Hiding in the laundry basket of all places, this rather distinctive black and grey bee looked back at me in bewilderment.  Females excavate tunnels in earth to make their nests.  They are solitary bees but can live alongside other bees nests.  Happy May Day everyone.
