Project 365 day 121: Fly

I don't know anything about the various species of fly which visit my garden. I've looked at some pictures, and tentatively suggest this may be a kind of snipe fly, a male Chrysopolis Cristatus, but many of the photos I've viewed look sufficiently similar for me to be far from certain. The green spike on the left is the current stage of the pussy willow; I'm not sure I had ever taken in the various stages in its development before this year. With the arrival of May much of the garden suddenly seems to be bursting into leaf and flower
