After the Harvest…..

Today I drove to Picton to pick up Granddaughter Emily who had just completed a 10 day course at Outward Bound in Anakiwa in the Marlborough Sounds. The meeting place was heaving with happy young graduates from various courses. A great experience for all and Emily said she’d go there again. I took her to the airport later today. She’s returning home to Wellington. Then I drove up the Wairau Valley to photograph some vineyards from the Delta Lake Road.
The mountains in the distance are part of the Richmond Range. The two higher peaks are Mount Sunday (1310m) on the left and Mount Riley (1311m) on the right.
This year’s vintage is well and truly over. The leaves, bright and beautiful in their autumnal garb, are still hanging on the grapevines. One or two big blows of north west winds and they will be gone.
