Paulownia is one of the fastest growing trees in the world, capable of growth rates of well over seven feet per year as a seedling! But while it’s highly appreciated and cultivated in Asia, Paulownia has come to be considered an invasive species in the United States.
Named for Anna Paulowna queen consort of the Netherlands (1795-1865). This tree is on the island in my grandparents yard. I always loved them as a child and I still think they are beautiful. There are 3 on the property and new ones have never showed up anywhere else. Not even in the woods. Although I think I would transplant one to our yard given the chance.
Have a Blessed week blippers and please be safe.
