James Joyce stood here

Apparently this spot where the rivers Sihl and Limmat merge was one of Joyce's favourite locations during his self-imposed exile in Zurich. On on the wall is a metal ribbon with two quotations from Finnegans Wake that refer to the river names
"Yssel that the limmat?" and "legging a jig or so on the sihl". Don't ask me what it means - I have yet to read that one - Ulysses was hard enough to digest.

There is also a very good James Joyce Foundation in Zurich.
