The Thing

In answer to queries about what kind of gear was used for yesterdays blip, here it is in all its glory.
One Canon DSLR
One Extension Bellows for same
One bottom of yoghurt tub attached to same with blu-tak and with hole cut in centre
One terrible quality 10 dioptre plastic magnifying lens attached over hole with more blu-tak
Rack bellows in and out until the desired effect is found and shoot.
Don't look for sharpness, there isn't any
No aperture control. Adjust exposure with shutter speed
If you don't have a bellows you could try a cardboard tube about 15cm long but you won't be able to rack that in and out nor attach it directly to the camera unless you feel like adapting a body cap with a large hole cut in it and some gaffer tape to hold your tube in place.
Go on, I dare you. Go have some fun and try it on portraits and landscapes too.
Ps. The inset is a White Anemone I shot with this set up today.
