Farewell Gasometer

When I was young there used to be three gasometers next to the railway in Reading and you could see how much gas was in them as the level of the holder went up and down. Now, two have been demolished and only one remains. That too is due to be pulled down, but has had a stay of execution due to nesting peregrines (which, sadly, we didn't see).

I persuaded a friend to accompany me to take some photos of it before it disappears, as well as some other urban shots of Reading. (Strangely, hubby wasn't that enamoured by the idea!) The above shot is almost exactly what I had in mind at the outset, with more in extras including a family of Canada Geese with three goslings, which provided a real lift to the end of our afternoon. There is also a shot of our 'Reading Banksy' at Reading prison, which was a short walk along the towpath. One of those days when there were just too many photos to choose from!
