Causey Arch

A walk at Causey Arch today - the worlds oldest surviving single-arch railway bridge.  The bridge was completed in 1726 by a local stonemason called Ralph Wood.  He relied on Roman engineering for it's design.  Sadly, local ledgend has it that he was so scared that his bridge would collapse that he committed suicide.  Ironical really when the bridge is still standing today.

I have attached a few extras.

Have a good weekend everyone.
