Life of Pie

We got a bit of a pie obsession going this weekend, so here we have cheese and onion pie and a chicken and bacon pasty (pastie depending on where you're from). Tomorrow should see steak and kidney pie and some methi keema mutter pies too.

Bit of a nothing Saturday, shopping, housework, TV (introduced Jen to Grimm, she approves) general pottering around.

Made puttanesca sauce with linguine and veal escalopes. The combination of black olives, capers and anchovies is a winner as far as I am concerned but the recipe I used was a bit heavy on the olive oil and needed some draining off. We had it with white wine but I am veering towards the thought that it would have suited red better. We even used the good wine glasses for dinner, in the past few years we have started to use tumblers instead of proper wine glasses due to excessive breakage caused by the high centre of gravity of stemmed glasses. It made all the difference.

Played a bit more Tomb Raider as well, i'm still finding it to be a tad lacking in the depth department. I'm not dying very often and there doesn't seem to be a great deal of exploration opportunities to be had.

Today also saw the arrival of my Amazon order that has taken an absolute age to arrive (well not really, it has arrived before the expected date but they normally arrive much sooner than this) which consists of 'XKCD Volume 0', The Oatmeal's 'How to Tell if Your Cat is Trying to Kill You' and a book on Ruby on Rails which I had previously got half way through as part of an office trial of Safari Books Online. Good reading ahead.
