If you can't beat them...

Trollius.

More commonly known as Globeflower, the Trollius is as its appearance suggests a member of the Ranunculaceae the same group as the Buttercup.  This is obviously is a horticultural variety, there is however a native trollius.   The native grows 1 -2 foot tall these are only 8 inches.

Most of the day we have had a Song Thrush "Song Posting" from the top of the Silver Birch.   It took me a long time to spot it and even longer to decide it was a Song Thrush as opposed to a Mistle Thrush (I am hopeless at brid song).  Finally I had to creep into the right position with the binocular to be able to see the breast in the gathering gloom.  Wonderful to have a Song Thrush they have been going down in numbers in recent years but are making a slight comeback.
