Buffalos and robins

We made a circuit of the Teifi marshes nature reserve where the circular route with its new causeway is open again.

The main attraction was the water buffaloes which have returned, as they do each spring, to graze and wallow among the muddy pools and channels. Buffalo make a better job of it than any other animals and they keep the waterways from getting clogged up with weed. The buffalos  looked relaxed and peaceful as they always do on their annual holidays here.

(Note: regardless of consistency, I have used all 3 forms of their  plural : buffalos, buffaloes, buffalo,  in the above paragraph. Just to show they are all correct.)

Not far away was the bedraggled remnant of a life-size model of a water buffalo made by stuffing a metal framework with sheep wool. It must have been impressive once but now looks decidedly the worse for wear after long exposure to the elements. As we inspected it two robins came and perched confidently  on the rusty iron work. I realised that the exposed stuffing must be  a source of nest material for every bird in the vicinity.
They're in the extra photo.
