Not a Parrot in Sight!

Our annual ramble around Parrot's Drumble Nature Reserve. It's one of the most unlikely place for such a site. It's sandwiched between a major dual carriageway (A500), an industrial estate, and an out of town retail outlet.

But it is a delightful bluebell wood. It’s unusual name from a combination of its previous owners, the Parrot family, and a local term for a stream running through a wooded valley - drumble. It's full of other wild flowers, along with plenty of bird life. It is owned and managed by the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust.

We managed to visit last year by walking from our home as we were in the middle of the first lockdown. We weren't allowed to to drive for leisure reasons then but we were determined to visit it as part of our daily exercise. it was such  a warm Spring last year that we went on 25th April! This year we thought we might be too early as Spring has been so cold and dry. But it was just perfect.

We should visit in other seasons just to watch the woodland change.
