A Notable House

This has been a day marked by lack of accomplishment and general indolence. We did manage to bestir ourselves to go to KIng's Flower Nursery and buy some flowers for three pots on the deck below our porch. They had tulips in them but they weren't very hardy and the squirrels ate them and were starting to eat the bulbs. Despite our vow not to plant anything more, we felt we needed to make an exception for these pots as a counterpoint to the newly revealed vista of more burned trees all the way up the Santa Rosa Creek canyon.

The plan was somewhat modified when we got there and discovered that John forgot his mask. However one of the workers said he could come in if he stayed outside. This wasn' t too honorous since the only thing that is inside is the cash register. By the time John hobbled in from the car, I had picked out the plants and he hobbled back again.

This house at the end of the street where I parked caught our attention and I stopped to take a picture of it. Santa Rosa does have some interesting architecture and Kings is located right in the middle of the old section of town with some fine big old homes. The one in this image is on a main street and has been converted into offices but they did a nice job of it.

Now having accomplished little else all day, we are about to go out to dinner at friends' house for the first time in over a year. We're excited!
